Once upon a time.. 

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, a granny soaked some rice and lentils, ground them into a fine batter by hand and left it overnight. The night faeries worked their magic and in the morning, the batter had fermented and doubled up into a soft and fluffy cloud. The granny turned this batter into delicious pancakes for the whole village and everyone lived happily ever after...

At ONCE UPON A DOSA, we have a passion for sharing our love of food with everyone we meet. We believe that food can be healthy and tasty at the same time. We believe in the traditional wisdom of food preparations and want to combine it with our global sensibilities to fuse the old and the new. We’re devoted to offering the highest-quality nutrient-dense food to our customers. 

 

We only use healthy fats such as butter, ghee, avocado, coconut, and extra virgin olive oil.

 

We work with local vendors and make our food from scratch without the unwanted fillers and preservatives.

A 'Dosa' or 'Dosai' is a thin pancake/crepe, originating from South India, dating back to the 1st century AD. The batter for the dosa, is typically made from rice, white lentils and fenugreek, stone ground and fermented overnight. It is naturally gluten-free and a staple breakfast/dinner in most South Indian households. It is served plain or stuffed, with a wide range of savory dips/lentil soups as accompaniments. This simple and adaptable dish has taken many avatars around the world. We want to bring it to your own backyard where you can enjoy a hot tasty dosa right off the griddle!

What is a Dosa?

At ONCE UPON A DOSA...

We've packed our dosa with flavor - from the batter itself to the various topping options. We use the best ingredients (sourced locally as much as possible) with ghee, butter, coconut or avocado oil for cooking. Cold pressed sesame oil and extra virgin olive oil are used for salads/raw applications.

We do not use any industrial seed or refined oils such as canola, soybean, peanut, rapeseed, etc.

 

Our entire menu is gluten free* and vegetarian. We want healthy food to be a choice and not a compromise on taste.

*While every care is taken to ensure we do not use any gluten and work with vendors who are careful about cross-contamination, we are not a certified gluten-free kitchen.
